Designing and making hats is my passion for many reasons. As a wearer, I have always loved the way a hat can make me feel. As a milliner, I love the whole process, but at the heart of it is my client and their story. I love to meet someone and discover who they are, where they are going and what is important to them.

I work from my small studio in the picturesque Forest of Bowland in Lancashire and often take inspiration from the dramatic landscapes and rich history of the area. I use traditional millinery techniques to produce beautiful hats that are as individual as the wearer.

I design and make hats and headpieces for special events such as weddings or a day at the races, together with hats that can be worn every day, such as a classic trilby for the winter, or a sun hat for the summer. It is always a pleasure to work with traditional millinery materials such as felt, straw, leather and feathers, but I also enjoy working with the rapidly expanding array of materials now available to the modern milliner, such as thermoplastics and plant-based sustainable fabrics. Whatever materials I am working with, every item I make is always unique and handmade with my signature attention to detail.

I am proud to be a member of the British Millinery Association which places an emphasis on innovation, inclusivity and education. It is wonderful to be part of a community of milliners which celebrates both traditional craftsmanship and modern values and design.

In 2022 I was awarded first prize in the BMA Jubilee challenge. My headpiece, inspired by the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was displayed in the Morley Gallery during London Hat Week. In 2021 I participated in the BMA Millinery Marathon and Palma International Hat Week, where I was selected as a top ten finalist. My work has been featured in both UK and International publications such as Obsessions 22, Stay in Art; The Olive Press and The Lancashire Post. Recent clients have commissioned pieces for weddings, race days and Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace.
